Before the New Year..

So with the holidays just about over and the New year around the corner, I want to share some of the cards/gifts I created.

Didn't quite get to finish this one :( it's Game of Thrones inspired and it was suppose to say "Christmas is Coming." Maybe for next year...

So I came across this color pencil drawing. It's about 10+ years old! Oh how I wish I would have taken a better photo of it, especially since I have no clue where the original is...

From my weekly sketchbook group, this week's theme was detectives :) Quick sketch done in pen and then brought into photoshop for color.

Back to the basics..

Haven't worked on a still life in while. Started this piece yesterday. I want to track my progress so here is what I have so far! 3 more weeks to go (This is just one class period's worth). 

Step one is thumbnails. Then gesture, trying to place the features in the right areas and trying to get the correct proportions. All done on tracing paper.

Drawing I did for the boyfriend for our 1 year anniversary. One of our first dates was a bike ride :) 

If I were a mermaid..

Was in the mood of drawing a mermaid.  Mermaids are awesome, the end.

New Heights

Measure Once, Cut Twice.

I don't know how I got myself into a book making class, given the fact I can't measure or cut a straight line, but I am enjoying this class nonetheless :D It has given me a new love and appreciation for the art of book making.

Here are some of my homework assignments: 

Sketchbook with Japanese Stab Binding.  

The inside has newsprint and the cover butterfly was done in acrylic, black ink and wet with water to create the dripping line.

Flag book. 

You may be wondering where the flags are, well they are on the inside lol. Unfortunately it didn't photograph well.  However, I was very happy with the cover. I hand drew (Andy Warhol's) Marilyn in the center.

Star Book. 

It started off as a 7 point star and because of my lack of measuring it turned into 11 point one!

Home Depot Cupcakes. Whhaaa?

Unfortunately this year I was strapped for time to go Xmas shopping or make individual Xmas cards :(

So I decided to make everyone cupcakes! Not just any cupcakes, but mini jar cupcakes. I came across the idea on pinterest and decided to make my own.  Inside each jar are a pair of socks, individually picked of course.  The jars are tiny so it was hard to put anything else in there!

It was quite the experience. I raided my dad's truck for anything that could be used as a frosting and came across some blue window caulking.  That was my prototype batch...

Wasn't too happy with the outcome so I dragged my Pops and my cousin to Home Depot in search for the right caulking lol.

There were several batches made, and lots of experimentation, but at the end I think they came out pretty cute :)

Animal Wildlife

Here is some of the work I did for my animal wildlife drawing class.  It's been a very overwhelming semester! I'm glad it's almost over :)

Blind Faith

Young Goodman Brown Project

I played around with many different concepts when it came to this project. The idea behind this image is that faith is a blindfold protecting Young Goodman Brown. Sort of like a shield that makes him unaware of the evil that can exist in people. Once the blindfold is removed, Brown will now see the truth, and truth is not always pretty.  I guess that's why they say "ignorance is bliss".

Unfortunately, my print came out ALOT darker then what I saw on the screen :(

Shine bright like a diamond

The mood I was going for is Romantic. I found this in class exercise to be easier then the sphere. Color is something that I struggle with, but I am pretty content with the way this turned out :)

This is my final project Silhouette + Icons.  I just noticed the last 2 projects have been pink. I have a feeling the next one will have some pink in it as well...
